Behavioral Case

Went through a 6 week hiring process, starting with an HR screener, then meeting with the Head of Products and other peer PMs. The HR Screen was the 1st round, the Hiring Manager interview was the 2nd round, and a Case Study interview was the 3rd round. The HR rep was helpful throughout the process, really setting you up for success. The 2nd and 3rd round interviews were structured with targeted questions to understand more about your experience. I failed the case study interview but was given feedback on areas to improve, which resonated well. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

First, I had a chat with a recruiter about standard stuff, which was fine. Then, it got weird. The recruiter asked a bunch of tech questions that the engineering team gave them, and they wrote it all down (or maybe recorded it) to tell the engineers later. These questions were pretty specific but also high-level, like asking about interfaces versus abstract classes. It was tough because I was explaining to someone who didn't really get the tech stuff, and you lose a lot in conversation when you can't go back and forth easily. Questions like that really threw me off.

I applied online and got a 45-minute Zoom interview with a recruiter. The recruiter didn't turn on her video, which was odd for a Zoom call; I'd expect a phone number if it was meant to be a phone interview. They mentioned at least four more interview stages and a presentation were part of the process, which felt like a lot for a Director role. I was told I'd hear back by midweek, but I got a generic rejection email over a week later. The whole experience felt impersonal and unprofessional.

So I interviewed with ROLLER, and honestly, it was a letdown. Started with a chat with HR, then they hit me with a take-home test that took a fair bit of my time. I got it in on time, but then... radio silence. No feedback, no word, not even a rejection. I tried reaching out a few times, but they just ghosted me. Would've been nice to get at least a heads-up acknowledging my work. Them ignoring candidates after assigning unpaid work is pretty unprofessional and disrespectful. I get that hiring can be tough, but keeping people in the loop is crucial for a company's reputation. Hope they sort out their candidate experience.
