First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rogers Communications.
Technical Support Engineer
I interviewed with a recruiter who then passed me to a contractor aiming to fill the position. First was a phone pre-screening, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. The interview was virtual via Zoom, lasted about 30 minutes, and included around 10 questions. You could answer them directly or using the STAR method.
- Are you familiar with scrum or agile methodologies?
Technical Support Representative
So after I applied, they sent me some online tests. The first was like a phone call simulation with different screens. Then there were other tests, like behavioural and IQ ones. The next day, I had a phone interview. The interviewer went over my resume and the job posting more thoroughly and then asked more behavioural/scenario questions. Some questions were a bit tricky, like asking me to describe handling a tough situation with "Enthusiasm/Optimism". But the interviewer was really understanding, which was great and made the experience better. They offered me an in-person interview, but I had to turn it down because they wanted me to start the following week, and I need to give proper notice to my current job.
- Could you tell me why you're interested in working for Rogers?
- Imagine a customer calls, really upset because they've been on hold for over 30 minutes. They're having trouble with their router and aren't sure if they have all the necessary parts. How would you handle this situation?
Technical Support Representative
I applied online and then did a test. Part one of the test was using an interactive call center app and choosing answers based on 'customers' calling in. Part two was 12 logic questions to do in 10 minutes. The first round was an interview at a local hiring event, and the second round was with call center managers. Some people said the process online includes a phone screening, which seems right.
- Imagine a customer calls saying their internet isn't working. How would you handle this situation, and what questions would you ask to determine the cause?
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a difficult customer.
- Describe a situation where you resolved a work issue without any supervision.
