Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rogers Communications.

I sent in my application online. A few days later, HR called and we scheduled an interview for the following week. I interviewed with the manager, and I had prepared for technical questions based on the job description. The manager seemed serious and asked a lot about diagrams, databases, and the call center. Some questions were tough because I didn't have experience in those areas. The manager explained the job responsibilities and mentioned they were still interviewing other candidates. They said they'd make a final decision after the interviews, and work would start the next month. I didn't think I did well, so I continued my part-time work. About 4 weeks later, the manager called and said HR would contact me soon for paperwork, and I'd start the following week. They gave me two start date options: in 2 days or next week. I initially said 2 days but then changed my mind, which was a bit silly.

First, a recruiter call with some easy questions about my personality. Then, a call with the hiring manager where I showed my portfolio and answered some straightforward questions. The recruiter was helpful and laid out the timeline and what to expect. The third round was unusual, with back-to-back interviews with team members, and I actually ran into another candidate in the elevator, which was quite awkward. After a long wait, the HR recruiter contacted me to say I didn't get the job, which was disappointing, but I appreciated the call. They seem like a decent team.

Applied through a job board. The interview process started with an HR screening, followed by an interview with the team. After that, I had to dedicate two hours of my already busy workday to complete their test. Then, I had a take-home task that I presented to the director in my final interview. I wasn't offered the role. The reason I gave a neutral rating is that after investing so much time off work for three interviews, preparing a presentation, and writing a test, all I received was an automated rejection email. This is poor form, especially for a company known for bad customer service, and it left a negative impression.
- Can you describe how you handle urgent requests?
