First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rocket Internet.
Product Manager
The interview process was very nice and the people were friendly, not pushy. They asked questions that I expected and I was prepared for. You need to learn about the company, what they offer, and what is a good strategy.
- What strategy do you think is good?
- Can you tell me about the industry?
- Do you have any behavioral questions for me?
Product Manager
We started with a short phone call to talk about my resume, past projects, and schooling. They asked me about the startup's product and why I was interested in working there. Next, I had an onsite interview at one of the Rocket Internet Startups. It was like a McKinsey interview. Several people talked with me about my opinions on different technologies and gave me some programming language questions. Then, they asked a lot of personality questions, like asking me to describe a time I failed and my feelings about it. They also gave me a few case study questions.

Product Manager
Applied through LinkedIn. First, had a call with HR which was standard. Then, I received a test task and completed it right away. After that, I was invited to a call with people from Product and Marketing. This call was short because I wasn't told which project I was interviewing for, so I just did general prep and research. Both interviewers were listed as Rocket employees on LinkedIn, which honestly made things more confusing. I put effort into a follow-up but was awkwardly rejected immediately. I won't claim to be the best candidate, but the immaturity of the interview process is a turn-off.
- Can you describe what a typical workday looks like for you?
- What characteristics define an ideal company for you to work at?
