Data Scientist Intern
So first I had to do this pre-interview exam, it had like "games" in it, building cars and supply chain stuff. Then the actual interview was technical, with some basic stats questions about A/B testing and ML, and then one coding question. The coding question was pretty hard compared to the stats ones, like Leetcode medium.
- In a situation with two groups that have unequal variances, which statistical test is appropriate for assessing the difference in their means?
- Could you explain some basic A/B testing concepts?
- What are some fundamental principles of machine learning?
Data Scientist
So I was interviewing for this new hybrid role that's part data science, part data engineering. It started with a recruiter call, then a technical interview on SQL and general programming. After that, I spoke with the hiring manager about my motivation and some behavioral stuff, and I got to ask a lot of questions about the team and projects. The onsite was a mix of case studies related to the actual work, deep dives into my resume, and more behavioral questions. Finally, I met with execs who dug into specific areas based on the onsite feedback. The whole process was great, though long – 9 interviews in total. But each one made sense for the role. The case studies were spot-on, and interviewers had previous feedback so they didn't ask the same things over and over. The recruiters were super helpful, giving feedback and tips after each stage.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Data Scientist
It was a standard SQL, Python, and product case interview, with the difficulty ranging from medium to high. This was by far the worst interview experience I have ever had. The interviewer gave only brief "yes" or "no" responses with no elaboration throughout the process, which made it difficult to solve problems collaboratively. Not only that, she kept looking at other screens (I could see this reflected in her glasses) and interrupting my responses whenever I tried to explain my thoughts. She didn't sound excited at all and gave me a negative impression about working at Roblox.
