I interviewed with the Floor Manager first, then an Assistant Manager, and then a Sales Manager. I was offered a different position because they said I probably wouldn't do well as a sales associate, but I took it anyway. Then I had two simple assessments, one for differentiation and one for math. The sales manager said I'd get a sales position in 3-6 months. About a month after the sales manager left, I asked the General Manager about it. They told me that they had already discussed it before hiring me and didn't think I'd be a sales associate.

Behavioral Technical Case

I sent in my resume and a manager from corporate called me. We then scheduled an interview with the sales manager. He was really professional and talked a lot about the job. The application itself was pretty easy, just had to write an essay on why I wanted the job. After a quick test and filling out some forms, I had my interview with the sales manager. He was informative, and the interview went well even though it was long. He said I should meet with the general manager, but not that day. So I called a few days later to try and set that up. It was weird that I left a message and he didn't call back. That's when things started to get strange. When I finally got a hold of him, he apologized and set me up for a second interview with the GM. I was excited and thought I still had a shot. When I met the general manager, I should have seen the red flags. He immediately asked what I do for fun. I figured he was just trying to chat. But then he asked if I was married and if I had kids. We talked a bit about me and barely anything about the job. He mentioned he wanted someone 'aggressive,' and I told him about my experience and that I'd do well. I left feeling pretty disappointed, especially since he said he wouldn't decide until after his vacation in two weeks. I waited and called him when he got back. He asked for more time, until the end of the week. When I called him that Friday, I was put on hold forever until the receptionist said he had stepped out. I've never felt so drained after an interview process. Honestly, they could have just asked me to kiss their butt directly. They should learn to interview with respect for people's time. Call back, send an email, find a better way to let someone know they aren't getting the job. It just looks better.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview was pretty easy. They talked up commissions but those expectations turned out to be inflated because commissions got cut company-wide. The commission tier system works on quarterly results to put people into one of three tiers, and then after a month's delay, associates get paid a percentage based on their tier. So, stuff from May sales might not show up in your November commission check.
