The interview process was thorough and demanded a significant time commitment, which isn't necessarily a negative. It kicked off with a 30-minute conversation with HR. Following that, I had a one-on-one Zoom interview with the head of product, focusing on my background and allowing me to discuss my questions and concerns about the role. Subsequently, HR contacted me with a home assignment that involved creating a presentation and a business case arguing for a specific action by Riskified. This task was enjoyable and provided insights into the company and its industry. Next, I was invited for an in-person meeting with the director of account management. This hour-long interview delved deeper into my experience and included a role-playing exercise where I interacted with the interviewer acting as a merchant. This scenario was challenging due to its acting component and some contradictions from the interviewer, but it required adaptability. Although I didn't receive an immediate response, I later learned my background wasn't the ideal fit, possibly due to the in-person interview. I believe my questions about data-driven decisions and merchant perspectives weren't effectively communicated during the role-play. Had I advanced, the next step would have been a meeting with the co-founders, which I didn't reach. In summary, it was a good but lengthy interview process, so it's advisable to be very interested in the company before investing significant effort.

I had a phone interview with HR, followed by an onsite interview with a PM, and a home assignment. The HR experience was really bad. They never updated me on the process, and even after I passed, it took a month to hear back. They were also hard to reach by email or phone. After I submitted my home assignment, which was really time-consuming, we scheduled an interview that was tentative based on the assignment's evaluation. Two days before, I asked for confirmation, but got no reply. The day before, I emailed at 8:00 AM with no response, and then messaged on WhatsApp at 4:00 PM. I was told I'd get an update in a few minutes, but at 7:00 PM, I found out they had canceled the interview. They apologized and said they'd give me feedback and an explanation, but that never happened, and they didn't respond when I tried to contact them.

The recruiting process was pretty bad, with many candidates reporting a similar experience. It started with a short HR screening call. Then, I interviewed with a Risk Analyst who asked open-ended questions about my past roles and gave me a task to assess the risk of a credit card deal, which was a challenging but interesting exercise requiring clear communication of my thought process. After that, I spoke with a Product Manager who also asked open-ended questions about my past product and feature experiences. This was followed by a 4-day take-home assignment, after which I was told I would present it to senior Product management. I invested a lot of time in the assignment. However, a few days after submitting it, HR informed me that they were moving forward with other candidates, with no feedback from the people who reviewed my work. I find this unacceptable for candidates who invest significant personal time in advanced-stage assignments. It's also bad practice for the assignment to be solely focused on the company's product. I told HR about my concerns, and she later contacted me to say the feedback was passed on and taken seriously, but the overall experience was still quite negative.
