Software QA Engineer
I got contacted by Riot Games for a job I was perfect for, doing exactly what I was doing before. I was excited because some old managers worked there. The recruiter set up what they called a 'culture and diversity interview'. I thought it went well and liked the QA manager, but the next day they said they were moving on with others. I guess I failed that interview. It left a bad taste; as a 60-year-old white male, I wondered if it was about diversity, which seemed odd since they could see that on my LinkedIn. I didn't think it was culture fit either because I'd just left a gaming company with a similar vibe. They never give feedback, so I'll never know. Just a heads-up, it's a strange process, and even if your skills are a match, they might prioritize other things, which I guess makes sense in this climate.

Quality Assurance Engineer
I had a phone interview with a recruiter that was casual and informative. The recruiters at Riot are awesome and offer great advice for the department interviews. This interview was about 50 minutes long. A week later, I had a second phone interview, which was also a great experience. The first two gentlemen I spoke with were laid back and asked thoughtful questions about my previous experience. This interview was about 40 minutes long. About a week after the second phone interview, I had a third phone interview with two different members of the QA department. These gentlemen were not laid back and it was a fairly brutal experience. It's possible that Riot QA does their two phone interviews as a "good cop - bad cop" thing, and this was the "bad cop" half. Unfortunately, it bordered on unprofessional. They did a weird snort/laugh at an answer I gave in earnest. They mocked another answer in a very "what a noob" way. There was a point where they laughed among themselves about something unrelated to my interview. Needless to say, after this interview, I had to second-guess my decision to apply at Riot. A week after the third phone interview, I received an email that they were going to pass. I wasn't surprised at all. Overall, the experience was mostly good. Two of the three interviews were really great. That third interview will definitely stick out in my mind as one of the worst I've had though.

QA Manager
I was initially contacted by a recruiter through my professional online profile and asked about my interest in opportunities at the company. After sending my resume, I had a 45-minute phone screen with the recruiter a few days later. They were attentive and inquired about my career experiences. The recruiter felt I might be a good fit for a couple of roles at Riot. About a week after that, I was invited to a phone interview with the Director, which took place the following week. The Director was also very pleasant, asked direct questions, and provided good answers to my inquiries. This call lasted approximately 50-60 minutes.
- Can you describe your typical day and walk me through it?
