Recruiter
The interview was going well until the interviewer told me that recruiters work 60 hour work weeks. I asked how they balance work/life and he said "this position really involves taking on the position as a lifestyle choice." I then told him that I was no longer interested in the position as I had other obligations outside of work. The interviewer proceeded to imply that I must not be willing to "put in the work" and that they were only looking for employees willing to "go the extra mile" because of this company being the "third best recruiting firm in the country." The company and I having different priorities/expectations for work is one thing, but I found it to be incredibly unprofessional and rude for this interviewer to start making assumptions about my work ethic and my capabilities as an employee because I could not commit to a 60 hour work week. Please have your interviewers brush up on their Q&A skills. Insulting your applicants is a really fast way to lose business and employees.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your work experience?

The interview started with an initial phone screen with Kate from Ringside. It was a very casual chat about the company's opportunity and my background, along with general questions about me. Following that, I had a 1-on-1 with Kate to discuss the role further. The next phase involved a "ride along" or shadowing day at the office, plus 3-4 interviews with the Partners at Ringside. These Partner interviews were more formal as they were the final stage for the position. The Partners were all very pleasant and helpful, offering good insights into the role.
- What personally and professionally drives you?

The interview process was really well put together. It started with a phone interview, which went great. Then, they scheduled me for an in-person interview at their downtown Columbus office, which has an awesome modern vibe with a boxing ring in the middle! They sent me all the details beforehand, which made me feel prepared. After meeting the friendly receptionist, I had a 45-minute interview where the interviewer was nice and explained the role well. Since that went well, I was invited back for a second round, a 'ride-along' interview. This lasted half a day and flew by. I got to listen in on calls with the team, which was super helpful to see what being a recruiter there would be like. Everyone was friendly. I also got to meet with partners and the President, Chris. I thought these interviews would be intimidating, but they were actually great. They shared their success stories and what it takes to succeed. I left feeling really excited. I got an offer and accepted it. The whole process was transparent about the job and expectations, and thankfully, the job has been exactly as they described it. I'm enjoying working here!
- Tell me about a time you worked on a team and what that experience was like.
