Technical Support Engineer
RingCentral has a really long and unhelpful interview process. I got contacted by a recruiter for a tech job in Colorado last Spring. She was great, super responsive and enthusiastic. I had a second interview with the hiring manager that same week, then met some team members the next week. After that, I interviewed with a Senior Manager and then the Director of Technical Support over the phone. It felt positive but took a while. They said I'd hear back in a 'few weeks' and I did ask to be kept in the loop if I wasn't a fit. I thought I had a good shot. Then, nothing. About 6 weeks later, I checked in with the recruiter, and she said they were holding off on hiring but she'd let me know if it reopened. Months later, the same recruiter reached out again about the same job because a new manager was interested. I went in to meet the new manager and the same team members from before. This was followed by another phone chat with the previous Senior Manager, who didn't recall me. Again, I was told I'd know by the end of the month (about 2 weeks). Still nothing. I figured I wasn't the right person and moved on. A few weeks ago, a different recruiter called about another role. Since I hadn't heard anything, I told him about my previous experience and my frustration. He seemed concerned, asked who I interviewed with, and promised an update call the next day. Over a week later, I got an email saying that other position was filled. At that point, I told them I wasn't interested anymore. The whole thing was the most confusing and inconsiderate experience ever. It seems like a great company to work for once you're in, but if this is how they interview, it might not be worth it. If you interview, be ready for this kind of treatment.
