Product Marketing Manager
This was the most drawn-out interview process I'd ever gone through. There were five interviews in total, and it included a 1-hour presentation that I spent 60 hours preparing for. The whole thing lasted 2 months. In the end, they offered me a job, but then they took it back because of a change in their hiring structure from the US. At every step, the hiring team said all the right things, but it just kept being 'one more call' with 'one more person' while they kicked the can down the road and wasted my time. The main things I learned were: 1. If you're applying for a job outside of North America, be ready for them to change their minds without warning. 2. The quality of senior (director-level) employees at RingCentral (at least in the UK) is pretty bad. Most of them seemed disinterested, and some came across as shy, awkward, and out of their depth. This means you probably won't get mentorship, and you'll likely need to fit into the right cultural group to get promoted.
- How do you feel about changing direction on a project you've already invested time in?
- Walk me through your CV and career history.
- Can you share an instance where something you did didn't go as planned?
Senior Product Marketing Manager
Applied online and then heard back from a recruiter almost a month later. It's worth noting that most of the jobs are listed as remote, but they're actually hybrid.
- Are you open to coming into the office several days a week?
Product Marketing Manager
I sent my resume, and the recruiter got in touch. Then I interviewed with a panel, and it seemed like everyone was really positive. Unfortunately, I didn't get the job. The only feedback I got was that the hiring manager didn't like how I phrased things in my samples, which was odd because everyone else, including her, thought the content and how I presented it was great.
- Can you give me an overview of your resume?
- Tell me about your resume.
- Could you present your resume?
