Site Manager
First, there's a questionnaire, asking if you can pass a drug screen and if you have a clean driving record. Then, the online application is pretty standard info. Resumes aren't required for entry-level roles. Entry-level positions usually just involve one interview with a manager, it's pretty casual.
- Tell me about a time a customer was upset and how you resolved it.
- Are you able to learn and operate basic to moderately complex technology?
- Can you handle technology like email, scanners, and processing equipment?
Creative Manager
I got an email saying my resume was a good fit and they asked me to fill out a form to check if I was still interested. After that, I could book my interview online. The interviewer called me right on time, told me the call was being recorded, and asked if that was okay. The interviewer was nice, but it sounded like they were in a noisy call center. They asked what I knew about Ricoh, what a typical day was like in my last job, how I'd deal with a tough employee situation, and if the salary range I'd seen online was correct. I mentioned that salary depends on the job details and how many people I'd manage. When I asked for more info on the role, they only said there were about 4-6 direct reports and I'd get more details from the hiring manager later. So, I had to say 'yes, but I need more info about the job' regarding the salary. The salary estimate on Glassdoor seemed a bit low for a management role, so I definitely needed more info to agree to it. The interviewer said they'd let me know about next steps within a week. They didn't, so I emailed them, but got no reply. The job was posted for a while, and I recently saw my application status updated to 'thank you for your interest, but we've chosen candidates who better match our needs.' My thoughts: They should have at least sent a rejection email like most good companies. Also, the recorded screener call felt like a waste of my time and a bit of a warning sign about the company and their hiring process.
- What is your understanding of our company?
- Can you walk me through a typical day in your previous position?
- Tell me about a time you had to manage a difficult situation with a subordinate or colleague.
Management Trainee
I applied online, and after about a week, HR from Ricoh contacted me to schedule an interview. When I arrived, I had to fill out a form with my details and complete a short, simple personality test. Then, I waited to meet the interviewer. The interview itself was mainly behavioral questions and lasted about 30 minutes with a friendly interviewer. I was told I'd be contacted if I got the job, but I never heard back.
- Can you share an example of a time you led a team?
