Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Richard Allen.
Sales Representative
It was pretty straightforward, started with a phone screening, then I had two video calls with the owner. They asked about my sales process and management background. They explained the role is D2D sales.
- Can you elaborate on your management experience?
Sales
The interview process was pretty strange, they wanted to move fast and were really vague about the commission structure. They offered me the choice between $400 weekly or a commission that was practically non-existent. I asked them how they were managing to make sales during the pandemic and their answer seemed really off. Also, there was no car or gas reimbursement, and no benefits at all. Honestly, it sounded just like a door-to-door sales gig.
- Why do you think you're a strong candidate for our team?
Sales Representative
So I applied online for an account manager job, but the next day they called and said that position was gone, and asked if I wanted to do sales rep instead. I figured, why not, just for the experience. The office had a kinda amateur vibe, you know, vinyl banners, stained carpet, maybe like a third-party marketing firm. But the interview itself was alright. First was like a personality/strengths screening. Then a follow-up call to talk about the day-to-day, pay, and how fast you can get promoted. Then an offer came a few days later. It wasn't really my thing, but if you wanna sell Verizon stuff and just get your foot in the door, it could work. The interviewers were nice and answered all my questions about travel, pay, and moving up. Basically, if you dress okay and have a high school diploma, they'll probably hire you.
