Account Manager
I got contacted by a recruiter from Richard Allen's New Britain, PA branch last Wednesday. The job description and the initial phone call were both pretty vague, but it seemed like I wouldn't be talking to clients directly and would be more of a behind-the-scenes person. I decided to go ahead and set up an on-site interview for the next day. I told the HR person I was coming from four hours away because I was looking to move to the area. I got there on Thursday morning and the waiting room was packed. I ended up waiting about 10-15 minutes. The actual interview lasted maybe five minutes. They said the job was for marketing for telecommunications companies, and a typical workday would involve visiting and recruiting clients. After they asked me a few personality questions, they sent me out and said I'd hear back that same day. Thankfully, I had other things to do in the area, otherwise I would've been pretty annoyed about driving so far for such a short interview. I got a call from their HR rep later that afternoon and they invited me back for today (Monday). She mentioned the only time slot available was 5:15 PM, which I thought was a weird time. I agreed to it. But over the weekend, something about the company and the position just didn't feel right, so I decided to check out some reviews. I quickly decided to cancel my interview. I emailed their HR department this morning, and I haven't gotten a response yet. If you're into sales, this could be a good fit, but I'd definitely check out the negative reviews and see how many people found them helpful. It also struck me as odd that their website shows four locations (two in PA, two in NY), but based on reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed, they actually have more offices.
- Tell me about your future aspirations.
- What are the top adjectives that describe you?
Account Manager
They first pitch it as a job where you are speaking with clients, supporting the team doing analysis, and learning other fields but its just a Sales Job. Every job from this company is a sales job. You will be doing Door to Door, expected to make 12 Sales a month, training is $500 a week, and they want you to be a manager 6 months in. I’m not sure who I spoke to but he felt very flat and it was awkward he lacked the desire to make proper conversation and just looked tired and like he wanted to be somewhere else. I made it to round 2 and realized I was not told the truth about the position so I told them via email that this position is not for me. Listen to the reviews and don’t waste your time.
- Do you envision yourself in a leadership role?
- Have you done door-to-door sales before?
- Is there any other information you'd like to provide?
Account Manager
It was a quick and easy interview. They wanted to know what I could bring to the company and what I thought of the work environment. They also asked about my experience in the field and emphasized how important building relationships is.
- What do you offer our company?
- What is your understanding of our work environment?
- Can you describe your experience in this area?
