Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ribbon Home.
Product Manager
It was a really great interview experience, probably the best I've had. The team was super organized and everyone I met, from PMs to Eng leadership and even a founder, was smart, humble, and really into the mission. They were upfront about salary and pay bands right from the first chat with the recruiter, which was awesome. They also made sure I had plenty of time to ask my own questions, and everyone was engaged and gave thoughtful answers.
- Can you describe your product intuition and how you approach product challenges?
- How do you effectively collaborate with different departments and stakeholders?
- Walk me through an example of how you've worked with engineering, design, or other teams.
Product Manager
The interview process felt pretty standard compared to other companies I've interviewed with. First, there was a 30 minute recruiter call to go over basics of the role & the company. Then, an hour call with the CEO. After that, a group interview with 2 other PMs currently at the company. Finally, a round of interviews with PM counterparts - VP of Eng, Eng Manager & Product Designer.
- Be sure you can describe your past experiences working on products, especially how you interact with engineering teams, designers, and other stakeholders involved in your product work.
- Prioritization is something you should be ready to discuss.
- Communication is another skill you should be prepared to talk about.
Product Manager
I interviewed for a product management role focused on data products. It went like this: First, I met with someone from the talent acquisition team for about 30 minutes. Then, I had a 30-minute meeting with the CEO. After that, I met with the Hiring Manager for an exploratory data exercise with the engineering team. Finally, I interviewed with the co-founder and the head of data analytics.

- What additional data assets would you ideally want to have for this analysis?
- Tell me about your past experience working with data teams and how it applies to Ribbon.
