I started with a phone interview that took about 30-45 minutes answering a series of questions that were then forwarded to a hiring manager. A few weeks later the hiring manager called and asked another series of "give me a time when" questions that lasted about 30-45 minutes. Then the initial interviewer called to set up and on site interview. The on site interview started with a test that took about an hour. It was a 2 part test that focused on the job. After the test I had 2 panel interviews with 2-4 people asking various questions and talking. Last there was a third interview that reviewed my test and I explained how I arrived at my answers.

First, there was a recruiter call to prescreen me. I was told I'd hear back about a face-to-face within a week, but it took several weeks to get another phone screen with the hiring manager. A week later, I was invited for an onsite interview. Upon arrival, I was met by someone from Talent Management and given a case study test. The recruiter said it wouldn't be number-heavy, but it was, feeling more like a college exam with a calculator, which felt like an ambush. After the case study, I had two sessions with different people, with a long break in between, and too much time was spent on the case study. As I was leaving my second session, I saw another candidate meeting with the initial interviewers, which seemed unprofessional. At the end, I was told I'd either get an offer call, a call from the recruiter about another role, or an email saying they weren't interested. I received the email, which I found offensive given the time I invested in traveling and interviewing, especially since they didn't call to decline me. While it might be for the best since I didn't feel it was a good fit, the email felt dismissive. The people were kind and professional, though.

I applied online via Careerbuilder.com and got an immediate confirmation. A few days later, I was contacted for a phone interview. The interviewer was professional and pleasant. The interview lasted about 25 minutes and included questions to gauge the candidate and select the most qualified ones based on experience. Some questions were standard, and others were more specific. Overall, it was a good interview. I think RJ Reynolds is a great company and seems to care about their employees.
