I went through 5 rounds of interviews for this one-year, fixed-term role. It felt like a lot for a Senior Scientist I position, usually this many rounds are for director roles. Four interviews were online, and one was in-person which required a presentation. Some interviews felt repetitive and could have been skipped.

Technical Behavioral Presentation

The first round was an online interview where they asked me some technical questions about the role, my past experiences, and my motivation for applying. Then, I had an on-site interview for the second round. They gave me a week to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation on a specific topic. After the presentation, we took a tour of the facility and discussed some more general questions.

I had about a 30 minute phone screen. Then I set up an hour zoom meeting with the hiring manager. Then they brought me in to meet the team and do a team interview. The person who did the phone screen was weird but the hiring manager and team interviews were very pleasant.
