I met a recruiter at the career fair in the Fall via a friend who was a previous Software Engineering intern. The recruiter reached out in the Spring for an interview. It took a bit to set up. The HR rep asked basic questions about my background, work experience, and previous projects. Then I interviewed with the coordinator of the PM internship program, which was small (only 2 PM interns total). After that, I had another interview with a different PM, similar but a different perspective. I didn't get the role because it was too late and they had already hired interns.

Behavioral Case Presentation

A recruiter reached out because of my LinkedIn profile. We exchanged emails, and then I had a screening call with her. About two weeks later (there was a delay because of holidays), I spoke with the hiring manager, who I think was the VP. The call went really well. I answered some scenario-based questions and suggested ways to handle specific client accounts they were having trouble with. I felt good about the call and sent a thank you note. Two weeks passed and I hadn't heard back, so I emailed the recruiter. She told me the role was being 'reevaluated' but she'd be in touch. It's been three months, and RetailMeNot hasn't contacted me at all. I'm pretty disappointed. After I gave them actual ideas for their clients, they couldn't even send a simple 'no thanks' email. It really felt like they just wanted to pick my brain for ideas.

I first connected with a recruiter I'd worked with before. Then, I interviewed with the VP of Product. It was a relaxed chat. The next step was an all-day in-person interview at the office. I met with different people every 45 minutes, and they provided lunch. It was pretty packed, but they made it feel relaxed. They asked a lot of "tell me about a time" questions, but it felt like a conversation. They made sure I could ask my own questions too. They were focused on checking if I'd be a good cultural fit, not just on technical skills. That was a really memorable part.
