First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Retail Merchandising Solutions Inc.
Schematic Analyst
First, I observed an analyst create schematics. Then, there was a group interview with the lead analyst, the district manager for RMSI, and the Safeway Space Manager. They asked and I answered questions about my past work history and computer experience.
- Was I proficient with word and did I feel I have the skills to learn schematic software and techniques.
Reset Merchandiser
The interview was super straightforward and quick. They just asked basic questions to see if I was willing to travel to different stores in the desert and if I could work graveyard shifts. It seemed like they wanted to hire on the spot.
- Would you be okay with traveling to different stores?
Team Lead
I got a call from a woman asking if I was interested, and I told her yes, but that I couldn't work in large teams and preferred to have a few home stores with a few employees under me. She said she would pass the information on. About a week later, another supervisor called me and hired me right over the phone. The money was good - $15 an hour, but it was all untrue. They actually put me on a large team, so I didn't stay long since they lied.
- Do you have any experience with merchandising, and if so, for how long?
- What is your experience with management or retail?
Merchandiser
I applied online and got a call about some basic stuff like if I had a car, auto insurance, and could legally work in the U.S. Then, I had an on-site interview at one of the stores. I dressed business casual, and the interview was pretty straightforward. After the questions, the team lead showed me around the store and gave me some basic info on what I'd be doing.
- Describe a situation where you had to complete a task with insufficient information.
- What would be your course of action if you faced an obstacle during a reset while your superiors were unavailable?
- Can you share an example of a time you exceeded expectations?
