Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Restaurant Brands International.
Management Associate
It was a few stages. The second to last stage was a manual business case simulation. During that stage, the HR person seemed nice publicly but was rude to IT support privately. She also made negative remarks about candidates sharing interesting personal facts, like "Oh I never knew that was considered interesting?". This already gave me a bad impression. Only a few candidates made it to the final stage. In the final stage, I was in a room with 3-4 interviewers and a few other candidates. The interviewers picked on our answers, misinterpreted them, and tried to make us criticize each other. I think they did this on purpose to pressure us, but I found it unnecessary and distasteful. At one point, I tried to defend another candidate because an interviewer was putting words in their mouth, possibly intentionally. I felt bad for that candidate. I was rudely asked if I was speaking for everyone. At that moment, I decided to withdraw my application because I didn't want to work there anymore. In my opinion, there are better ways to test pressure handling, like role-playing difficult scenarios individually with an interviewer. What I observed from the HR rep in the second to last stage and the way the final stage was conducted reflects the company's culture to me. I value authenticity, teamwork, trust, supporting others, and building people up, so this company culture likely wouldn't be a good fit.

Senior Manager
It was a thorough and long interview process, but overall fair. A great recruiter named Ashley was super responsive. Started with an HR intro call, then a team member chat. After that, there was a 24-hour take-home case study to build a financial model for a franchisee, followed by a Q&A about my model and thinking. Then, a virtual super day with 4 back-to-back interviews. The final two interviews were with the brand president and an HR senior director. I got a verbal offer 2 days later and the contract a week after that. No tricky brain teasers or consulting-style case studies. It was more about my background and interest in RBI. The only downside was the waiting period between rounds, sometimes not hearing back for a week or two, which is common with HR but could be improved. Despite that, it was a positive experience and I accepted the offer.

Senior Manager
It felt like starting at the bottom, to be honest. First, there was a friendly HR chat. Then, a few days later, I had an interview with the hiring manager. They were supposed to have 30 minutes, but they showed up late, so our conversation was cut short. The interview itself was okay, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed and maybe not as sharp as they tried to act, even though they put in the effort. After that, the recruiter just vanished and didn't even reply to my thank-you message. Real classy.
