First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Reserve Bank of India.
Intern
The interview was about 30 minutes long and touched on many things. First, they asked a lot about monetary policy: how it works, what it means for the economy, and what the current policy is. Then, they wanted to know if I understood big economic changes, what's happening in the global and Indian economies right now, and important current events affecting money markets. They also checked if I could link policy ideas to what's actually happening and explain things clearly using data.
- Mostly asked about macroeconomics, and a lot about current affairs.
MBA Summer Intern
The interview took about 20 minutes and had 3 interviewers who were Deputy General Managers from RBI Kanpur and Lucknow. They were really nice and made sure everyone felt comfortable. We talked about my research topic on Central Bank and Digital Currency, which was interesting since I've already done some research on it.
- Could you start by introducing yourself?
- Can you tell us about your educational background?
- What were your previous internships like?
Intern
First, you submit an online application on the RBI website, filling in your personal and academic info, and uploading your resume and a statement of purpose. Then, candidates are shortlisted based on 10th, 12th, and college marks. Next, there's a personal interview at RBI control offices with general managers. They'll check your grasp of economic concepts, data analysis, current events, and your work. Bring ID, mark sheets, and certificates. Finally, if selected, you'll get an offer letter by email. The internship is usually 2-3 months long, and you'll be placed in a department based on your interest and what's available.
- Can you share something about yourself that isn't on your resume?
