First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Reserve Bank of India.
Intern
The interview was about 30 minutes long and touched on many things. First, they asked a lot about monetary policy: how it works, what it means for the economy, and what the current policy is. Then, they wanted to know if I understood big economic changes, what's happening in the global and Indian economies right now, and important current events affecting money markets. They also checked if I could link policy ideas to what's actually happening and explain things clearly using data.
- Mostly asked about macroeconomics, and a lot about current affairs.
Statistical Analyst
It was a panel interview with 5 panelists: 2 from HR, 2 Technical, and 1 senior for approval. The questions mostly covered past academic performance and the department you'd like to work in. Candidates are screened based on their application details. Shortlisted candidates were called for a personal interview at an RBI office. I was called to the Bhopal office. There were three interviewers on the panel, all senior-level, like a General Manager. My internship lasted three months, from June 1 to August 31. I was placed in the NBFC department in Bhopal. The stipend offered was Rs.15000 per month.
- Could you discuss your previous academic achievements and your preferred department of placement?
- Tell me about your academic background and where you see yourself working.
Assistant
It was a panel interview with four members. One was strict, one was a lady, one was neutral, and one was down to earth. It started with why I want to join. Most interviewers were from engineering, so they asked why I wanted to get into banking after engineering. Then they asked some questions about banking and economics. Overall, the people were nice and cordial.
- Why do you want to join at this clerical post after doing Engineering?
