I applied online and about 10 days later received an email with a technical editing test in my area of study, which I had a week to complete. It was an interesting task with good examples and instructions. A week after I sent that back, I was invited for a 'Technical Interview', which was another editing exercise over video. Before scheduling, they wanted to confirm salary and job description alignment. Finally, I had a last interview a couple of weeks after that, with behavioral questions. I got an offer about 10 days later, making the whole process about 2 months from applying.

I applied for the job, and about a week later, I got a call. Then, I had a phone chat with the person who would become my supervisor. Right after that call, they emailed me a one-page medical text from a manuscript and asked me to translate it from Turkish to English. I got it done and sent it back within 2 hours. They liked my translation, and after about 1-2 weeks, they invited me to North Carolina for an in-person interview. I also got to chat with some other employees there. During that visit, I met with my supervisor again and also met the managing translators for Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Arabic, French, and Spanish. They offered me the job on the spot, and I confirmed it within a week with the paperwork.

I went through two rounds of interviews. The first was one-on-one, and the second was with a panel. A big topic in both was burnout, which seems to be a real issue at the company. One editor mentioned doing other things because they couldn't edit full-time and stay sane, but their answers were vague when I asked about it. The other editor stressed multiple times how mentally taxing and stressful the job is. It sounded like a tough place to work.

So first I had a phone screen with the manager. Then I went to the office and had a few short interviews. I did a technical interview with two developers from the team, and then a broader interview with a group of developers. Lunch was included, and I guess that counted too. They really care about culture fit here because they rely on good communication. Lastly, I met with the manager again, one on one.
