First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Republic National Distributing Company.
Director
It started with a case study, then there were 2 more interview rounds: one with the direct manager and another with a senior manager who wasn't my direct supervisor. They asked a mix of questions about my past experiences, how I approach things, leadership skills, and critical thinking.
- Given that 70% of our suppliers account for only 4% of our revenue, how would you manage a situation where we need to decrease our partner base? What would be your strategy for tackling this problem?
Specialist
We had a group interview that felt pretty chill but asked some tough questions about your real-world experience. You gotta be ready to share actual examples from the market to show your skills and how you performed. They do look at how long you've been around, but you don't need to have been in your current role for a specific amount of time or meet any GL rules.
- Can you describe market challenges due to economic shifts and how you adapted your route management strategy in response?
HR Director
I was contacted for a phone screening, and the recruiter asked very specific questions that seemed to target my age, which felt discriminatory. They asked for my graduation years for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, which I don't see as relevant to my qualifications. The recruiter also asked for a list of my current contracted clients, which I refused to provide due to privacy concerns and its irrelevance to the role. Despite my reservations, I received an offer for a second interview with the hiring manager, which went well. However, after over a week without any updates, I followed up and received an automated rejection email the next day. I found this process unprofessional, especially after completing two rounds of interviews.
- Can you share an example of a time you successfully implemented a strategy?
Research Analyst
I was contacted by a recruiter from a staffing agency on LinkedIn, and they gave me a quick rundown of the job. We had a second interview with the same recruiter, and then she laid out the contract details, pay, and start date. She set up a third interview with an account manager for the company, and then a fourth/final interview. The recruiter called me the morning of my final interview with the direct team managers as a reminder and to say congrats. About 30 minutes before that interview, the account manager called saying it had to be rescheduled because of an IT reboot they weren't aware of since they were OOTO. He apologized and promised to call ASAP to reschedule but never did. I messaged the original recruiter on LinkedIn for a follow-up, and she read it but didn't reply. It's been about a month now. So, it started out nice, but I don't like my time being wasted.
- Tell me why you believe you are a strong candidate for this position.
- Would you be alright with a hybrid work arrangement?
- Can you describe your technical background and experience?
