The process started with a LinkedIn message from HR, followed by a delay in response. After I followed up, they scheduled an initial technical interview with a senior dev, which went well. Then came a cultural fit and leadership interview with the CTO. The CTO, who seemed less experienced and had poor people skills, was condescending and focused on my past role. Despite clarifying my current responsibilities aligned with the role, he didn't seem to grasp it. After these interviews, I was promised an answer in 4 business days. Seven business days passed without a response, so I followed up via email and found out I was rejected.

Behavioral Presentation Case

The first two interviews were pretty standard. Then, for the third interview, I had to present a case study about a company I'd never even heard of before. I was told during that third interview that this kind of task is what I'd be doing a lot in this role. That's when I immediately knew this wasn't the right place for me. I'm really not interested in anything that involves sales, and the case study seemed to heavily focus on sales tactics. So, both the company and I figured out we're not a good match.

The interview process involved a phone call and a Zoom meeting. I managed to set up a phone interview that lasted about 15 minutes. It covered general questions about my background, my understanding of RentSpree, and a job overview. The subsequent Zoom interview featured more detailed questions, and I also had the chance to meet the team I'd be joining, which was a positive experience before deciding. The whole process spanned roughly 2 to 3 weeks.

Behavioral Technical

There were 3 interviews total. It started with a phone screen, then a 1 on 1 with who I would be working with closely, and finally a 1 on 1 with the founder. However, the third interview, which was supposed to be a 1 on 1, turned into a 3 on 1. The previous person I spoke with and both founders showed up on the Zoom call. It was a big HR mistake, and really uncomfortable since I was prepared to talk to just one person. The interviewers didn't introduce themselves or ask any warm-up questions, they just jumped straight into standard interview questions. This happened while two extra people were on the call. Both founders came across as cold, robotic, and not welcoming.
