Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at RELX.
Sales Head
It was a pretty laid-back process, likely due to the interviewer's style. There were two phone calls followed by an in-person meeting. The onsite interview involved two managers and felt more like a casual chat over coffee. Some insightful questions were asked, probing for evidence as expected. After that, there was a phone interview with the manager based in the US. HR wasn't really involved in a face-to-face capacity. They used a slick online portal.
- What's your strategy for increasing revenue?
Pre-Sales
Had a one-hour phone interview with the hiring manager. Then, I had a meeting with the hiring manager and two other managers. They asked me to do a short presentation to assess my presentation skills. They also conducted thorough background checks, so be prepared to provide references.
- What are your motivations for seeking employment in this industry?
Sales
I had an interview with the recruiter, then two phone interviews, and one in person interview. There were two more phone interviews scheduled with someone who didn't show up for either. The third time they did show up for the phone interview, but didn't apologize for missing the other two. That interview was tougher, but okay, though any questions I had about the firm got pretty vague answers. I don't think they were too impressed with my answers, and I wasn't too impressed with theirs. I didn't get a callback. I spoke to the recruiter and they gave me an excuse for why I didn't get a callback. After three phone interviews, two in person interviews, and two missed calls, you'd think I'd at least get the courtesy of a callback either way. It felt a bit unprofessional, and gave me a vibe of what it would be like to work there.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experiences?
