I had a phone interview first, then an in-store interview which included a floor walk. They basically told me I had the job and would be in touch, but then nothing happened. There were delays like 'the area meeting got pushed back so I don’t have an answer for you yet and can’t formally offer you the role.' I said okay, keep me posted. After 4 weeks of back and forth delays, I heard nothing. No email reply, no phone call, nothing. I sent emails following up on the status of the role and the vacancy (even though we went into another lockdown and there was no manager running the store). I got no reply. Completely ghosted. I know 2020 was tough for retail, but not even bothering to say 'no, thanks for your time' after all the chats is just rude and bad practice.

It was a really friendly and positive process, and HR gave great feedback to prepare me for all stages. It wasn't rushed, and the communication was really open and considerate. They seem genuinely interested in finding the right person, not just filling a spot quickly.

The first stage was a phone call, then they promised a second stage via teams, but after that there was no follow up or response. I'm still waiting to hear back, but honestly, I'm no longer interested. It was too off-putting. I'd avoid this at all costs.
