First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Reframe (GA).
Product Designer
The recruiter started the call without introducing herself and immediately asked if I had any questions. She inquired about my views on work-life balance, making it clear that it was not a priority or an option in their company culture. She also emphasized that her and her cofounder's design requests were well-thought-out and intentional, implying there would be no room to challenge their decisions. It seemed like they were looking for someone agreeable rather than a product designer who could offer critical input and refine designs.
- What are your thoughts on work-life balance?
- How do you de-stress after work?
Product Designer
I had my first interview with one of the founders. She didn't ask anything about my background or how experienced I am. She just wanted to know if I was okay with working crazy long hours and facing super tight deadlines. She straight up said I'd have to be available 24/7 and meet deadlines, sometimes in less than a day, with hardly any info on the problem. The pay isn't even good enough for that kind of commitment. She also mentioned that designers have to live in the Atlanta area, but the rest of the team is remote? And designers are basically on their own... So why the move to Georgia?! I'm giving it a 2/10 because she was at least honest. But seriously, if you get an interview here, just run.
- Would you be okay with being on call 24/7?
- Are you willing to relocate to Atlanta, as it's a requirement for designers?
- How do you handle stress?
Product Designer
The recruiter asked if I would be willing to work 50 hours a week at the salary range 70k - 100k a year, and relocate to Atlanta. It's not expected to go into the office, but I have to go meet the founders at their disposal. They also asked me to do a take-home design challenge without even speaking to anyone other than the recruiter.
- Must relocate to Atlanta even though it's a remote role?
- Must be willing to work 50 hrs and more?
- Must do a take-home design challenge?
