Got a call from an agency. Had a quick chat with HR first, then a meet and greet with two engineering managers. Didn't move forward after that. Apparently, it was because I didn't have enough experience in golang, react, and ruby, even though that was all on my resume. Heads up, don't bother applying if you don't know react and Ruby.

First I had a phone call, then I talked with the team manager. A couple of days after that, I did a coding interview which involved a simple UI change for about an hour, and then a whiteboard session where I had to design a board game for 45 minutes.

The process started with meeting my contact who gave me a tour. Then, I was assigned a take-home project, which I found to be quite uncreative and dull. Following that, I had an onsite interview with four distinct segments: a technical discussion, a whiteboarding session for software architecture, a pairing/coding exercise where I had to extend my take-home project, and a cultural fit discussion with non-engineers. Some interviewers seemed unprepared, and the coding portion felt disorganized. The overall experience left me less enthusiastic about the company than when I started.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Complete this take-home project and be aware that you will be asked to expand upon it later.
  • Design a software system on a whiteboard.
