Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rebel Sport.
Team Member
I went in earlier that day with my resume and gave it to the manager. He then invited me to join the group interview that night with about 15 other candidates, most of them young. It was mostly trivia-style questions in a group setting, then we did an exercise where we had to learn about the person next to us and then 'sell' them like they were a product. This was probably to check our sales and customer service skills.
- Can you tell me when Super Retail Group was established?
Team Member
We had a group interview where we were split into smaller teams. In these teams, we discussed our thoughts on Rebel's values. Then, each of us had to individually try to sell a piece of sports gear to the rest of the group.
- Can you identify this piece of sporting equipment and explain its selling points?
Team Member
The interview process can be a group interview, and you might get hired with no further interviews. The interview style really depends on the store manager and the specific job you're applying for. For instance, Christmas casual roles often just have one group interview. Part-time and full-time team members typically have one-on-one interviews. For regular casual positions, it might be a group interview or a one-on-one, based on what the store manager prefers.
- Tell me about your favorite color and the reason why.
- If you could choose your last meal, what would it be?
- Can you describe your previous job?
