I talked to the recruiter first, then the hiring manager, then another person from the team, and finally an executive. Each chat was about 30 minutes long. Everyone was really nice and asked some great questions. I didn't feel like they were trying to trick me or anything.
- What makes you stand out?
Manager
I had phone calls with the Recruiter, Managers, and the Head of Dept. I spoke to more than 4 people, it was a straightforward process. My only issue is that no one bothered to send a rejection email. If a candidate spends weeks talking with your team and gets to the final interview, they should at least get a generic email. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't apply here again. Note: people are being hired and fired all the time.
- Could you please tell me about yourself and your managerial experience?
Manager
Had a phone screen with the recruiter, who mentioned they were looking for a more hands-off engineering manager. Then, another phone screen with an engineering manager. After that, I had onsite interviews. The first was with the hiring manager, covering standard management topics. Near the end, he mentioned needing a hands-on technical manager, which felt like a setup given my hands-off approach. Next, I interviewed with a peer manager who seemed uninterested and finished 15 minutes early. Following that, an interview with some engineers involved more in-depth system design and some behavioral questions. Lastly, I spoke with a senior person who was in a hurry to finish. I was told I'd get feedback in a day but never heard back for weeks. At least a rejection would have been courteous.
