First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at RBC Dominion Securities.
Portfolio Manager
Had 4 interviews total with a chairman council team, they manage Assets > $1.7 Billion. I was interviewed for an analyst role. The first interview was with HR. Second, I met with the Advisor to discuss fit, market outlook, asked some technical questions, and needed 3-4 stock pitches. Third, it was an in-person presentation with a model to the Investment Committee, following a case study given on a Friday evening around 6pm. The presentation was held on Wednesday morning at 10am. They wanted 2 stock pitches for replacement this time, not just one. This interview was 2 hours long and included some risk management questions. Fourth, the Advisor and PM asked me to research a larger peer competitor, which I did and sent them all the background info and research stuff, making sense of it.
- Can you pitch two US stocks to me?
- What would you do if a stock or fixed-income security experienced a 20% drop in a single day?
- How do you perform detailed performance attribution utilizing Bloomberg?
Administrative Assistant
I got in touch with someone and they set up an interview for me, I didn't have to apply through the usual channels. The interview invite came through email. I had one online interview that lasted about 45 minutes. It was mostly behavioral questions, and they asked about my skills with Excel.
- What do you consider your greatest weakness when working with a team?
- Can you give me an overview of your resume?
- What are your motivations for seeking this role?
Associate
First, there was an HR call. Then, I had a video meeting with the manager. After that, I had an in-person meeting with the manager and the Branch Manager. I haven't heard anything since the third interview, and I've already sent two follow-up emails. It's been two weeks since the third interview.
- Can you share your background with us?
- Can you tell me about your previous job experiences?
Administrative Associate
the interviewer was amazing, and it was an enjoyable experience. It was a 30 minutes long interview but it felt shorter because I was made comfortable by the interviewer. Questions are simple and there is 2 times interview, and then another one when we are about to enter a team.
- What are your 5-year goals?
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What are your expectations for this role?
