First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rasmussen University.
Program Manager
I had a total of 4 interviews over a 2 week period. The first was a phone call with the recruiter, who was very nice. The second was a phone interview with a supervisor. Then, I had an in-person interview with another supervisor. They asked standard questions like 'walk me through your resume,' 'what did you like about your last 2 jobs,' and 'what did you dislike about them.' The final interview was with the assistant VP of admissions, though the recruiter made a mistake and scheduled it for the wrong day. I showed up a day early, which was inconvenient. The recruiter apologized and told me the correct date was the next day, admitting she gave me the wrong date. I felt a bit discouraged because I had to take time off from my current job. The last interview was much like the ones with the supervisors, with the VP asking most of the questions. I really felt a connection with all the supervisors. I was really disappointed when I got an email from the recruiter stating they had eliminated the position for another Program Manager and closed the job opening. I invested a lot of time in their interview process and found it strange they put me through such a lengthy process if they weren't going to hire anyone for the role.
- Are you more of a 'hate to lose' or 'love to win' person?
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about a conflict you had with a supervisor and how you resolved it.
Program Manager
Long interview process, took about a month and a half to get an answer. First, there were 3 phone interviews, followed by 2 in-person interviews. The office is pretty chill and laid back, but it's a sales job so you gotta hit your numbers or you'll get coached, and if you don't improve, you're out. It's a good starting point, but tough to build a career here.
- What draws you to the education sector?
- What makes you the right candidate for our team?
Program Manager
The interview process lasted for 3 weeks, and I met with directors and eventually the assistant VP. They asked typical interview questions. It was a bit challenging because I have a bubbly, energetic personality, and everyone I spoke with was not, making it a little difficult to match their personalities. After each interview, I sent a thank-you email, and the HR person was always quick to respond to my questions. I eventually made it to the final round of interviews and, of course, sent my thank-you email to the HR person, as that was the only contact information I had, and then I never heard back from them. I even asked when they were looking to make a decision so I would have some idea of their timeline. I would have appreciated some kind of email letting me know I didn't get the position.
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
- In five years, where do you see yourself?
- Describe a difficult situation you faced at a previous job and how you handled it.
