I applied for the job on Linkedin and about 20 days later, I got an email from a recruiter to do an SQL test on HackerRank. The email was sent on a Friday night and I had until Monday to complete it. It's a startup, so I figured it was automated. The test was challenging, with two problems requiring basic SQL commands but at a medium-high difficulty. I enjoyed it; it was supposed to be 2 hours, but I finished in about an hour and a half. The test had live scoring to check if queries worked, and I did well on both. The email said they'd contact me if I passed. I waited two weeks and, almost out of habit, messaged the recruiter. They replied almost 20 days later (again, at 11 pm) saying they'd schedule a virtual interview with the division leader. The interview was a week later via Google Meets and quite friendly. The interviewer was in another country, but communication was fine. My BI experience is limited (I'm a recent grad), but I was honest on my CV and mentioned self-learning. The interviewer seemed to expect someone with more experience, and the questions were about SQL technicalities, which I found unnecessary. I didn't get feedback, so I messaged the recruiter again, knowing I hadn't progressed. It's been over a month, and I haven't heard back. The process was too disorganized. If my experience wasn't enough, they shouldn't have let my CV advance. A simple rejection would have saved me over two months of a disappointing process.
