First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Randalls.
Deli Clerk
Randalls' hiring process is fast and casual. You can apply online or at the store. There's a brief in-person chat about your schedule and customer service skills, then they'll make an offer, followed by background checks and training.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- What makes you want to work at Randalls?
- What's your availability like?
Cashier
It was a quick interview process. I was hired and started working not long after. I actually filled a few different roles before I got to do any actual cashier work. I interviewed with the person at the front desk and then with a few managers. The process wasn't difficult because they really needed someone right away.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- What days and times are you available to work?
Butcher
Hired a year ago, promoted from deli to meat dept. The regional market manager was late to my cutting test, which I took on my day off. After passing the test, they said we'd discuss pay later (never did) and I wouldn't be offered full-time benefits, despite working 40 hours a week for over a year. I was also told that if I neglected new responsibilities, I'd be written up or worse. A year later, a new store director fired me two weeks after arriving because I took a break past 7. Still no benefits.
- Are you able to follow instructions without question?
Department Manager
I was contacted by an in-store recruiter who found my resume online. We had a brief phone call where they explained the job and asked some confirming questions. Then, I was scheduled for an interview a week later with the recruiter/HR person and the regional department merchandiser. The interview had standard questions like 'why did you leave your job,' and they also focused on customer service aspects.
- Regarding your past experience, it seems you had limited customer interaction. How do you think you'll perform in a retail environment, given Randalls' emphasis on customer service?
