I applied online back in December 2008 and got a call from RAND in the spring of 2009. First, I had a phone interview, then I had to take a computer-based skills test covering Word, Excel, PowerPoint, typing, and proofreading. After passing that, I received a second call to come in for an in-person interview. Three researchers interviewed me separately; they were all really enthusiastic and friendly. A few days later, I got an offer I couldn't turn down. RAND has great benefits like health insurance, 15 vacation days annually, and a retirement plan, plus a really welcoming work environment.

It was super long and involved a 2-hour test on Microsoft Office and admin stuff. Then, I had almost 4 hours of interviews over two days with everyone on the team.

I sent in my application online, and then the Operations Manager called me the next day for a quick chat to see if I was still interested and a good fit. After that, they had me do a skills test to check my proofreading and how well I knew Microsoft Office. Once I passed that, I had a phone interview, which was actually two 30-minute chats, about a week after I first applied. The last parts were two 30-minute in-person interviews, followed by a background and reference check. They offered me the job about three weeks after I applied.
