Associate
I applied online in late September for the Water position in San Francisco. They were looking for PhDs. I got the phone interview in late October. It was about 30 minutes long and covered both behavioral and technical questions. The interviewer was a water resources manager and was really friendly. I heard back about the results in about a week.
- Can you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- Given your PhD, why are you interested in consulting instead of remaining in academia?
- Could you introduce yourself?
Associate
About a month after I applied online, I got a call to set up a phone interview. A week after that 45-minute call, they invited me for what was supposed to be an on-site interview. Since I lived out of state, it ended up being a Skype interview instead. It was a full day, lasting about 4-5 hours. It started with a case study where I had 10 minutes to prepare my answer. I was given a map and some emails to work with for that. Then, I met with four groups of people from two different offices I might work with. I also had to give a 15-minute presentation about my undergraduate research. About two weeks after that, I had a follow-up meeting with some staff from one of the offices at a conference near where I was living at the time, basically so they could meet me in person. They extended an offer the week after that. The whole thing took around 2.5 months. The staff were really nice and kept in touch throughout.
- Can you share an instance of a challenging decision you faced and its result?
Associate
After submitting my resume through LinkedIn, I got an email from the hiring manager to set up an interview. We then had a 30-45 minute phone chat with the hiring manager.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Walk me through your current role.
- Can you tell me about prior research you've conducted?
