First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at R.S. Hughes Co., Inc..
Manager Trainee
The interview process involved 3 rounds. First, I spoke with the Sales Manager, then the Regional Sales Manager, and finally the Regional Operations Manager. Everyone was professional and respected my time. Given this company's traditional values, I'd recommend dressing professionally.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
Inside Sales Representative
Applied online through an employment agency. They were quick to respond. They had me complete a personality and assessment test. Then, I went in for an in-person interview. I didn't hear back from them afterwards unless I reached out to see if I was still being considered, which I found to be rude and dismissive of my time and job search. I felt like I would have been a good fit for the job based on my experience. However, it seemed like the job and company culture might be very stressful, and the low pay likely wouldn't compensate for it. In hindsight, it might have been for the best that I wasn't offered the role. Many companies nowadays seem to want perfect candidates with specific skills who are willing to work for very little pay. The company's reviews (2.9) also suggest it might not be a great place to work. The company itself might be alright, but the organizational structure, management, and the target market could be quite volatile and unpredictable.
- Can you tell me about your background and past experiences?
- What are your career goals and aspirations for the future?
- What motivated you to apply for this position?
Web Developer
We had 5 interviews for the Web Developer role. During each interview, the interviewer used my resume as a basis to make insulting remarks about my character. For example, they asked if leaving my previous job was due to not being ready for a real job, and expressed hesitation about hiring me because my resume suggested I didn't know who I was. The interviewer seemed to have a vested interest in the company, RS Hughes, and was eager to sell it. A significant portion of the interviews focused heavily on financial aspects, specifically the interviewer's and the company's earnings.
- Can you explain why you chose to leave a position at job X, where your salary was higher, for a position at job Y, with a lower salary?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process at this company could use more transparency. I passed all the interviews. The Area Manager tentatively offered me a salary and asked me to wait a few days for the official job offer. After waiting a week, an external recruiter contacted me with an offer for half the amount we agreed on. I declined the offer.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
