AI Deployed Engineer
The interview process started with a technical screening round. Then there was a second technical round with the Applications Director, followed by another technical round with a different team member. The final round was a coding and architecture round. Depending on your answers, they will select the role. The whole process is expected to take about 3 weeks.
- The interviewer, despite being listed as a Gen AI Engineer on LinkedIn, seemed unaware of AI tools and asked about 2019 ML models found on ChatGPT. They claimed ignorance about AI tools while I mentioned advanced AI tools, which was confusing given their profile.
- The interviewer asked about 2019 ML models that they searched for in ChatGPT.
- When I mentioned advanced AI tools, the interviewer stated they were an ML engineer and didn't know about AI, despite their LinkedIn profile indicating they are a Gen AI engineer.

HR reached out to me in early December for an initial phone chat, which I did that week. They were great about explaining the whole process and mentioned they wanted to hire by month's end. I then tackled a take-home assignment and presented it on Dec 12th to four senior team members, including my future manager. They were all nice, liked my work, and asked good questions about my presentation. The last two chats were with my manager and the managing director. They wanted to dive deeper into my background, my experience with the periop ecosystem, and how I'd handle common challenges in this field behaviorally. Since I could book each chat weekly, we wrapped things up fast. By Dec 19th, I got my offer and started Jan 6th. I also let HR know I was traveling internationally, and they were super flexible about rescheduling if needed. Overall, I'm pleased with how thorough and quick the process was, and big props to HR for being so considerate and responsive to my needs.
- What's your approach for dealing with an unhappy customer who isn't seeing the product's benefits and is hesitant to keep using it?

The interview process was pretty straightforward and clear. It started with a recruiter screening, then a take-home assignment followed by a presentation. After that, there were interviews with the hiring manager(s) and also some cross-team interviews. They were assessing hard skills, soft skills, technical knowledge, and how well I'd fit with the team and company culture. The talent acquisition team was great at communicating and coordinating everything, which made it a really good experience.
- Can you share an instance where you had to convey negative information to a client and explain your approach?
Marketing
The recruiter had the audacity to ask me how I contribute to diversity on the team as a poc when there were ZERO people of color on the team. They kept trying to probe me for specific details about my current company. I got the impression they were trying to gather information rather than actually considering me for an open position. When I offered to use an example from a different, unrelated category I had experience in, they became quite insistent and kept pushing for details about a specific product I was actively working on. It truly felt like an information-gathering exercise rather than a genuine interview.
- As a person of color, how do you contribute to diversity on the team?
