Data Scientist
Had an initial call with the recruiter which was positive, covering my background and the role details. The subsequent round was with a data scientist. It began with discussing my experience and then moved to an A/B testing scenario, which I felt I handled well. We used a shared document to outline my thought process, starting with the general 5-6 steps of A/B testing and then diving deeper into each. However, I felt the interviewer was disengaged, often on their phone, and seemed annoyed when I tried to build rapport by asking about personal interests. While the role and company initially sounded appealing, this interview experience made me question if I'd want to proceed, even if offered the next stage.
- Walk me through the entire process of conducting an A/B test.
Data Scientist
I applied for a New Grad role on LinkedIn, and after a couple of weeks, I got a take-home assignment. A few days after submitting that, they set up a phone screen where they asked metric-related questions for about 45 minutes. About one to two weeks later, they scheduled an on-site interview which consisted of 4 back-to-back interviews. These covered data manipulation, metrics, problem-solving, statistics, and a behavioral interview with the hiring manager. Overall, the experience was pretty good, and the recruiters were really responsive. I liked most of the process except for the interview with the hiring manager; she seemed disengaged and like she just recited three memorized questions before leaving.
- What metrics would you propose to assess this situation?
- Can you identify the error in this data analysis?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment at Quora?
Data Scientist
I had an HR informational chat, then a phone screen, and finally a virtual on-site interview. They sent me a study guide to help me prepare for the different parts of the interview, which was really helpful. I was super impressed with how quickly the recruiter got back to me, set up the interviews, and let me know the results. A couple of the sections felt a bit redundant, but overall, the content seemed relevant to the actual job.
- Can you explain experimental design?
