First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Quest Diagnostics.
Forensic Scientist
I applied online and the posting was removed about a week after I interviewed. I got an email two weeks after applying to schedule a phone interview and had limited options, all on the same day. The interviewer and I spoke for about 20 minutes. They asked me about my past experiences, if I could handle the job requirements, and my salary expectations. I felt the interview went well and was told I'd hear back within a week. The very next morning, I got an email saying I wasn't being considered, which seemed really fast. Either something major flagged in my interview, or the position was already filled (Aerotek handles recruiting in my area).
- Describe a time you had to handle a hostile environment.
- What is one of your long-term goals?
- What are your career aspirations for the next 5 years?
Senior Scientist
I had a 30-minute phone interview first. Then I was invited for an on-site interview which included a presentation on a topic of my choice and 30-minute meetings with different staff members. The whole interview day was from 9am to 5pm. It seemed like they needed someone for their process transfer group and were hiring for this position to fill that gap. There were some issues due to lack of communication between departments and missed validations. Overall, I had a good conversation with the team and the interview finished on a positive note.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- If hired for this role, how would you approach carrying out your responsibilities?
- What is your strategy moving forward?
Forensic Scientist
After submitting my application and a couple of emails with the hiring manager, a recruiter got in touch quickly and set up an in-person interview with the manager. Before going in, I got a brief tour of the place and learned a bit about the work they do there. Then, we went to a conference room where the manager asked me a set of questions from a list they had, jotting down notes as I answered. The questioning part wrapped up in about 20 minutes.
- Can you share an instance of a workplace conflict you experienced with a colleague and detail how you resolved it?
