& Process

The interview had 4 parts. First was with my future boss for general behavior questions. Then I met my future colleagues for design questions. After that, I had a chat with someone from the recommendation team to ask more science-specific and behavioral questions. Finally, HR wrapped things up. The overall experience was great, and there was no whiteboard coding. I was given a single coding task: design a REST service with some medium difficulty requirements, and I had a week to finish it.

I sent in my application via a recruitment agency late in November 2016. The whole hiring process took a little over a month, which was a bit delayed due to the holiday season in December. Initially, I had a call with HR where we talked about my background, my career aspirations, the company, and the various engineering roles they had open. Following that, I got a take-home assignment. It was pretty standard and quite similar to the tasks I do now. I submitted the assignment without getting any specific feedback, but they then invited me for an in-person interview with the engineering leads. This involved meeting with three engineers consecutively, and the entire session lasted about two hours.

The initial phone screen was pretty quick, mostly a chat about my background and interest in Quartet Health. I was told the onsite would be very light on technical questions, focusing more on 'curiosity.' Scheduling the onsite was also fairly prompt. However, before the onsite, they were hard to reach via email. The onsite itself was a surprise regarding the questions asked. After the onsite, I got rejected via automated emails that were vague and unhelpful, not even specifying the job role, which was confusing since I'd applied for multiple positions. They sent the rejection late, too. Honestly, it was one of the worst interview experiences, mainly because of the miscommunication about the interview content. The interviews weren't even hard, just not what I was led to expect.
