First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants & Hotels.
Manager On Duty
I got a call from the department manager about a week after I applied. They set up an interview with someone who was already doing the job. It was pretty straightforward and lasted about 20 minutes. The person I interviewed with called me back about two hours later to set up another interview for the next day. The second interview was with the department manager and then the general manager. The questions were a little tougher, but nothing too crazy. After that, I never heard back from the hotel.
- What would you do if staff members had a conflict?
- How do you supervise employees?
- How do you deal with stress?
Manager on Duty
I sent my resume via email and then had 3 interviews all on the same day. First, I spoke with someone who seemed like a Guest Service Rep and she asked me a bunch of questions before saying she'd go get a manager. I waited about 15-20 minutes, then a manager came out and asked me similar questions to the previous person. They told me the Assistant GM would then interview me. This made me think there might be a lot of micromanaging, but I waited again, this time for what felt like longer than the previous wait. The Assistant GM finally showed up just to tell me the job wasn't available anymore. I left feeling like it was a total waste of my time.
- In a stressful environment, how do you manage?
Marketing Assistant
I had two phone interviews for this Marketing Assistant role. The first was straightforward, covering my interest in the job and my marketing background. The second interview was more challenging. The interviewer was critical of my past successes and ideas, stating that for this role, I would only be expected to complete assigned tasks rather than generate new ones. Although I didn't get an offer, it seemed like a mutual decision as I felt I wouldn't be able to grow or utilize my skills there.
- Tell me about a marketing campaign you've managed successfully before.
Server
I submitted my application and then got to talk with the shift manager. They asked me some direct questions and seemed genuinely interested in chatting with me. I also got to ask them some questions, and they gave honest answers. It happened quickly because they needed staff right away, so they told me to come back the next day wearing my uniform for a basic training shift.
- Tell me about a challenging situation you faced in a prior serving role and how you handled it.
