I did an online application and then got a phone call. Someone from HR/Resourcing rang me and we had a long chat about competencies - like why I wanted to join Qinetiq, a time I solved a problem, and a time I worked in a team. After that, I was invited to an assessment day. It was for lots of graduates from all over the country, from different fields. The day had a short group activity where they watched how we interacted, then a tough English and maths test (20 mins each). Finally, there was a 1:1 presentation and interview. I think the content of this last part might change, but for me, it was about my final year project and had some smart technical questions.

Started with an online assessment, then got invited to an assessment day in Farnborough. The assessment day had 4 parts: a manual dexterity test where you have 50 mins to build a robot from instructions (it's tricky, just take your time), a presentation on a topic similar to the job or with enough technical data (most people presented their final year project), a critical thinking assessment where you read data and decide on the best action, and a group exercise where you have 15 minutes to prioritize items after your boat capsizes.
