I interviewed remotely for a Sr Strategist role. The process was coordinated by a member of the Talent Team and involved another Senior Strategist. I had a good conversation with them, and they seemed interested in my background. However, they ghosted me after the interview. I tried reaching out multiple times, but they stopped responding. It was unprofessional and disappointing, especially given their stated values. I used to admire Purpose, but they have serious issues to address. I wouldn't recommend interviewing with them if professionalism is important to you.

I went through 3 interviews and completed one assignment. Everyone I met was really nice, and they always introduced themselves before asking questions, which made me feel comfortable. The whole thing took less than a month. I had a weekend to do the assignment and then presented it to three team members during my second interview. They let me walk through my thinking and asked some good questions afterward. I actually enjoyed the whole experience. They always made time for my questions at the end and were happy to answer them. It felt like a good way to get a sense of the company culture and what it would be like working at Purpose. I'd seen some bad reviews and was a bit worried, but my experience was very positive.

The hiring process here felt like more style than substance. I went through 5 interview rounds plus a long written exercise. A heads-up if they give you a written exercise: consider adding a clause about intellectual property and stating that they can't use your work without your written permission. The final interview was with a director who hadn't even looked at the written work I sent two weeks prior and asked super basic questions that made it seem like they didn't know the field as well as I do. My friends who work here mentioned that the company lands a lot of contracts despite the work quality not being great, and they tend to favor freelance contracts over full-time roles, which leads to high turnover.
