The interview process was straightforward but felt lengthy and a bit redundant. The hiring team seemed unprepared, which was evident in their emails. The HR department appeared disorganized and lacked clarity in their decision-making, leading to a lot of back-and-forth. It sometimes felt like they were just going through the motions, despite their efforts. Overall, while they tried, their processes weren't as smooth or effective as they could have been.

Behavioral Case Presentation

I went through a pretty long selection process for an impact measurement and learning lead role, taking about two months from the first chat to the final round. It was a fun and challenging time with some great conversations. The process moved along well, even with some quiet periods between rounds. Everyone I spoke with was nice and smart. I was told to expect a 2-3 week wait after the final interview, but after three weeks, I had to chase for an update. I got a nice, apologetic response saying someone would be in touch, but then nothing happened. Two weeks later, I asked again for a timeline, and nobody replied. I still haven't gotten an official rejection since my final interview back in January, which feels rude and unprofessional, especially in 2022. If you can't take a minute to update candidates, you shouldn't be hiring. It's particularly bad when you claim commitment to equity in the social justice space. It seems like there's a lot of overconfidence at Purpose, and it's odd how people can be nice individually but unprofessional in processes when they decide not to hire someone, as ghosting seems to be a common issue based on other reviews.

I went through 3 interviews and completed one assignment. Everyone I met was really nice, and they always introduced themselves before asking questions, which made me feel comfortable. The whole thing took less than a month. I had a weekend to do the assignment and then presented it to three team members during my second interview. They let me walk through my thinking and asked some good questions afterward. I actually enjoyed the whole experience. They always made time for my questions at the end and were happy to answer them. It felt like a good way to get a sense of the company culture and what it would be like working at Purpose. I'd seen some bad reviews and was a bit worried, but my experience was very positive.

Behavioral Case

First, I had to submit my resume and cover letter along with three short essays that were meant to check my writing skills and my passion for solving world problems. A few weeks later, I heard back that I advanced to the interview stage. The interview itself was an hour-long Skype call where they asked me some behavioral questions and a few casual case questions. Near the end, they mentioned there might be another interview in the next few days and I'd hear back about a decision within a week. But, I got an offer letter just three hours after that and took it! The interview experience was pretty relaxed and I felt really comfortable the whole time.
