First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Purple Strategies.
Associate
It was a 3 round process: first a phone call with the hiring manager, then a zoom call with the direct manager, and finally an in-person interview with two team members. The office was nice and the staff were friendly. The process was pretty quick. Most of the questions were about my background and how it fits the job, my interest in Purple, and how I handle juggling different tasks.
- Can you describe your methods for staying organized?
Account Director
It was a strange and long interview process. Even though the position required up to 10 years of experience, it was described as mid-level, and the salary offered was quite low for someone with 10 years in crisis communications. There were four interviews in total: one with a Senior Director, two separate interviews with Account Directors, followed by a writing test, and finally an interview with the Managing Director. All the interviews were pleasant, and they asked thoughtful questions, but the whole process dragged on for months. There was no HR contact, and salary expectations weren't discussed until the very end. Curiously, there wasn't an interview with anyone at the Partner level, which makes me think the Director level is actually more junior than advertised. I eventually got a call saying I didn't get the job, but it would have carried more weight if the call came from management instead of an assistant. Overall, it was a lengthy and not totally transparent process.

Insights Lead
Overall, a really negative interview experience. The process involved a few steps: first, a recruiting call, then a one-on-one with the hiring manager, followed by interviews with multiple team members, and finally, a presentation of a past research project. I had a total of 5 separate calls or interviews with the company. After all of that, it just went silent. The recruiter kept saying there were no updates, never giving any feedback or thanking me for my time. It's been almost 2 months since the last panel interview, and they still haven't officially rejected me, just 'no update yet'. If you expect basic respect during the interview process, don't waste your time here.
- Can you share the most interesting insight you've derived from a past project?
Director
I was contacted by a recruiter and went through a few rounds of interviews, and then ended up talking to senior partners. It was okay, but I was surprised they spent so much time asking about my academic research from a long time ago instead of my more recent corporate work.

- What can you tell us about your past academic research?
- Tell us about your experience in the corporate world.
