First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Publix.
Cashier
The interview process was very brief. I followed up with the hiring team multiple times, but I never received any response, not even a rejection notice; it was just radio silence. It's quite difficult to not get any definitive feedback and be left wondering if I was overlooked or simply forgotten. This lack of communication left me unsure of my status in the hiring process.
- What makes you want to be employed at Publix?
Cashier
You start by applying online on Publix's website. Make sure everything is correct and you mention any experience you have. If they like your application, you might get a phone call, just to check you're qualified and available. If that goes well, you'll come in for an in-person interview at a store. Here you'll talk about your background, skills, and when you can work with the hiring manager. Sometimes, you'll have to do tests, like one for customer service skills, to see if you're a good fit. For some jobs, there might be another interview with a manager to talk more about your qualifications and if you'd fit in with the team. If you get through all that, they might offer you the job! They'll talk about pay, benefits, and stuff like that. Publix also does background checks and drug tests for everyone they hire.
- Can you describe your experience working in customer service?
Retail Associate
It was a walk-in event, so if you already filled out your resume online, you walk in, ask the customer service workers about the interview, they set you up and you wait until a manager calls you back. The manager starts the interview asking you questions then about half-way through they describe what the company's wants, worries, and expectations are. They ask a few more questions after that then send you on your way telling you that you'll get a phone call or email about whether you got the job or not.
