After a bunch of emails about an entry-level Media Analyst job, I had a quick 15-min phone chat and then did an online written test. The person I talked to seemed bored. The test had 3 articles and asked stuff like who wrote them and when they came out. They told me I failed this super easy test, which was weird since I'm an experienced Media Analyst. I tried asking for feedback on my results but they just ignored me. Honestly, Public Relay seems like a waste of time and I'm not even sure they're a real company.

The interview process seemed long, but I bowed out early. It involved talking to a sales leader, the chairman of the board, and the CEO before I could even speak with potential teammates or people I'd work with daily. There were way too many rounds, and combined with Glassdoor reviews, it raised a bunch of red flags and didn't seem like a fit. For example, when I asked about company culture, the interviewer said they help people find other jobs if PublicRelay isn't a good fit. That's the only thing they could say about culture? It makes me think they're hiding something or are totally out of touch with what's likely a weak culture and bad employee experience. It's a standard question, so I don't think I surprised them. Most tech companies have a clear view on their culture and hire based on that. The interviewer seemed disengaged and uninterested in their own product, which makes it hard to get excited about joining. I got the impression they hire recent grads as Analysts and burn them out quickly, which is unsustainable for them and those who depend on them. Never again! Based on my research and our talk, it seemed like there wasn't much growth, just people leaving and being replaced. However, the leader insisted they were about to grow exponentially without mentioning new funding or products to drive it. I also couldn't see how I could grow in the organization or role, which is important to me.

The process began with a 30-minute video call focusing on my background and job expectations. Following this, I was given an assessment with 16 questions to complete in 35 minutes. The time limit for the assessment was quite tight, but it was manageable. The next step was an online interview with three interviewers, where I was provided with three articles to analyze beforehand. The interviewers were generally friendly, and communication was prompt.

i had a screening call with an associate, we talked about my background and they told me about the company and job. Then i was given an Analytical Assessment. I had to read four 2-page articles about airlines and summarize the key concepts in 30 minutes. It was hard to understand the airline terms and the main ideas in just 7 minutes per article. They told me i didn't pass the assessment and rejected me. If this is what they do before hiring, i can't imagine working there full-time.
