Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at pSemi.
RFIC Design Engineer
It was a pretty chill interview process. They asked questions about basic IC design and RF fundamentals. They also inquired about my previous project experience and relevant coursework. Some personal questions were also asked.
- How would you design a matching network, and what's your strategy for it?
- Could you describe your past project experience?
- What relevant courses have you taken or plan to take?
Digital Design Engineer
I met a recruiter from PSEMI at a career fair and we had a good chat. Then, I got an email from their San Diego office to schedule a phone interview. I had the call a couple of weeks later, and it lasted about an hour and a half. The senior manager I spoke with was really nice. They mainly asked me questions about my CV and the ASIC design projects I'd worked on. The interview went well, but they were looking for someone to start in summer 2017, and I still had another semester left. He suggested I apply again closer to graduation if a suitable position opened up.
- Could you tell me about your CV and the ASIC design projects you were involved in?
RFIC Design Engineer
I applied online and I'm not sure how long it took for them to get back to me. Then HR set up a technical pre-screening call with minimal information. I felt I did well on the call, but since I couldn't answer all the questions correctly, HR sent a rejection a few days later. I asked for feedback on my performance, but they didn't reply.
- What is the gain of a differential amplifier, and how can its parameters be adjusted to increase it?
- Could you analyze the noise characteristics of a differential amplifier?
- Discuss the linearity of a differential amplifier.
